Rangashankara: Summer Workshops for Children

Summer is starting and there will be various summer camps for kids. You can publish your events in the Summer Camps forum by yourself. If it is interesting I will pick it up and publish to the front page.
1.Theatre Workshop for Children
Age Group: 9 to 12 years as of 1 st Apr 2007 (Born on or after 31 Mar 1994 and before 31 Mar 1998)
Conducted by: Padmavati Rao, Theatre Practitioner and Educationist, Bangalore
Dates: April 2nd to April 11th, both days inclusive
For: Two batches of 25 kids each.
Batch 1 08:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Batch 2 11 AM noon to 1:00 PM
Venue: Ranga Shankara, 36/2 J P Nagar II Phase, Next to Post Office.
Fee: Rs.1000/-
Padmavati Rao, theatre practitioner and educationist, was the Assistant Director of Shankar Nag’s TV serial, Malgudi Days. Lately, Rao has been the Assistant Director of AHA!’s first production, Gumma Banda Gumma.
Highlights:
- A general theatre workshop with emphasis on acting, speech, body and movement.
- Ten days for each session, two hours a day.
- Special emphasis on team work and bonding.
- Will leave behind creations that will be staged as platform performances through out the year at Ranga Shankara under AHA!.
2. Theatre Workshop for Children>
Age group: 13 to 16 years as of 1st Apr 2007 (Born on or after 31 Mar 1991 and before 31 Mar 1994).
Conducted by: Neeraj Kabi, Theatre Actor, Director and Educationist, Mumbai.
Dates: April 12th to 21st, both days inclusive
For: Two batches of 30 children each.
Batch 1 9 AM to 12 noon
Venue: Ranga Shankara, 36/2 J P Nagar II Phase, Next to Post Office.
Batch 2 4 PM to 7 PM
Venue: ‘Sinchana’

Neeraj Kabi, Director and Actor from Mumbai is well-known for his workshops for kids in Mumbai and a regular at Prithvi Theatre’s workshops every year. Neeraj Kabi’s Pravah Theatre group has several productions to its credit and performs regularly all over India.
Highlights:
- · A general theatre workshop with emphasis on acting, speech, body and movement.

3. Puppetry in Theatre Workshop
Age group: 9 to 16 years as of 1 Apr 2007 (Born on or after 31 Mar 1991 and before 31 Mar 1998)
Conducted by: Dadi Padamjee, Puppeteer, New Delhi
Dates: 22nd April to 1st May, both days inclusive.
For: One batch of 20 children.
9 AM to 12 noon
Venue: Ranga Shankara, 36/2 J P Nagar II Phase, Next to Post Office
Fee: Rs.1000/-
Dadi Padamjee, a veteran puppeteer of India, Dadi Padamjee makes puppets and creates theatrical performances with people and puppets. Every year, his organization curates an international puppetry festival in several venues of India.
Highlights:
- The workshop will impart the basic skills of puppet making. In that, it will be a first of its kind in Bangalore.
- The participants will make puppets and understand how puppets can be brought into a theatrical production.
- An exhibition of the puppets made by the participants the Ranga Shankara foyer.
4. Mask Making Workshop
Age group: 9 to 16 years as of 1st Apr 2007 (Born on or after 31 Mar 1991 and before 31 Mar 1998)
Conducted by: Maltesh Badiger, Bangalore.
Dates: 2nd April to 9th April, both days inclusive.
For: One batch of 20 children.
1 PM to 4 PM
Venue: Ranga Shankara, 36/2 J P Nagar II Phase, Next to Post Office
Fee: Rs.1000/-
Maltesh Badiger is a Senior Artist and Art Designer of Kannada Theatre . Mask-making is his forte. Maltesh Badiger trained at Ninasam, Heggodu. He is a much sought-after artist by the Kannada theatre community for their needs on masks, sets, posters and banners.
Highlights:
- ·A unique craft will be imparted to young minds.
- · Introduces kids to the array of masks used in the world of theatre today.
- · Exhibition of the masks created during the workshop in the Ranga Shankara foyer
