Competition is such an all-pervading aspect of most people’s lives so much so that it has defined our activities, our schedule, our career paths and even our mindsets. At a very early age children are told that the world out there is extremely competitive - they have to learn new skills every day to prove that they are better than their neighbor, colleague, peer or friend.
While there are some aspects of competition are beneficial, over emphasis on competition affects the collective and finally trickles down to individuals. The other side of competition is Coopetition. While Competition assumes that the world out there is the result of a zero sum game, coopetition presupposes that the pie itself can be extended to accommodate new players. A zero sum game has losers and winners; people win at the cost of others. Therefore the emphasis is on winning – and competition is the essence of this. Coopetition on the other hand states that it is possible for everybody to win. Most aspects of this world are not a zero sum game. You can win with others and not at the expense of others.
Debates – The Conventional Approach:
You only have winners and losers with no focus on implementation. Beautiful and sensible points raised are barely captured. The target audiences in most cases are missing. Spectators of the debate pay attention to how the debate goes forward and how debaters speak, how much of humor and recreation they have derived out of the event and not by what is spoken and whether what is spoken is actually implementable and if so who would implement it. The entire process feeds the ego of a few The focus on the debater, their speaking abilities and verbal communication and not on the issue
We bring you the eastern approach challenge in form of CREAtIVE DebAtE
It is holistic and it addresses the issue and goes beyond the individual. It considers everybody’s opinion, integrates, develops and grows the opinion to help understand the issue better. It engages the target Audience and most importantly the objective is not to win, but to come out with an implementable solution.

Brief Background to the talk
The source of solar heating still remains an open question inthe field of solarand stellar astrophysics even after decades of study. Solar temperatures reach millions of degrees and although there is evidence that magnetic activity is the prime driver, the mechanism is yet to be understood. Numerous heating mechanisms have been proposed to explain this.

One possibility is that theCoronae are heated bya large number ofsmall flares and his research along with his colleagues has found that the Coronal emissionis dominated by flares to such an extent that in some cases the entire emission canbe ascribed to flareheating. This and many more high energy aspects of solar and stellar coronae are the prime focus of his research. Some applications of this research explain why, for instance, our cell phone networks go down.
The presentation will include fantastic pictures of our Sun taken from a variety of telescopes in space
